If you’re considering a dental implant tooth replacement plan, you probably have some questions. While these restoration plans have become the gold standard for many dentists, most patients are still unfamiliar with dental implant treatment. In this post, we’ll talk about some of the things that patients should know about dental implant supported tooth replacement before starting their treatment.

Moving teeth requires the placement of pressure. That pressure shifts the root system of the tooth breaking down supportive alveolar bone tissue. Once the tooth reaches its new position, the bone and gum tissue reattach. No matter how you perform these movements, there will be some discomfort, but unlike other orthodontic solutions, Invisalign may be a much more comfortable solution that limits patient discomfort throughout the course of treatment, especially compared with traditional bracket and wire braces.

It’s 2017 and this year will be different. This year, you’ll find The One. She’s out there, and, with the multitude of online dating sites, you know you can find her. You’re a good-looking guy with smarts and heart – you’ve got a cleverly crafted profile that illustrates all you have to offer. But when it comes to your pictures, there’s one thing missing – a wide grin full of perfectly straight teeth. Sure, you’re smiling in some shots, but always with your lips closed. You want to straighten your teeth, but you’re afraid that if The One sees a picture of a guy with a mouthful of metal, she’ll pass you by. What can you do? For thousands of years, people have relied upon removable dentures to restore smiles following tooth loss, but with the introduction of dental implants, patients are able to choose between removable and semi-permanent smile restoration. In many cases, the choice is clear, but some patients need a little extra help choosing between the two options. We encourage patients to schedule consultation appointments to allow our team to walk through the process, benefits, and drawbacks of each option before making a decision. To find out more before your appointment, visit our dental implant or dentures pages, keep reading, or feel free to give the friendly Boston Smile Center team a call.

Dental implants have become one of the most popular tooth replacement options because they are the only dental restoration that restores the root and crown (visible portion) of the tooth. Because dental implants replace the root structure, they are not reliant on surrounding teeth for support, and the implant posts provide necessary stimulus for bone and gum tissue retention. Innovations in dental implant techniques and technology have made them increasingly viable, and they now have a 98% success rate. When it comes to successful dental implant placement, your Boston Smile Center team works hard to provide the skill and quality materials necessary for a successful surgical procedure, but after the procedure, the success of implant placement is in your hands.

For many patients who struggle with crooked, gapped, or misaligned smiles, treatment often seems just as bad or worse than the current state of their smiles. A mouth full of metal, months with diet restrictions, extra time spent on oral hygiene, and hours in the orthodontist’s chair, may seem like more trouble than they’re worth. Lucky for our patients, Boston Smile Center offers a wide variety of orthodontic treatment options to avoid a mouth full of metal, hours spent in the office, and any other concerns patients may have with traditional orthodontic treatment.

An attractive, open smile is an invaluable asset in your personal and professional life, conveying confidence, charisma, and a whole host of positive attributes in a single flash of your pearly whites. Fortunately, there is a teeth-straightening solution that doesn’t involve the use of metal wires and brackets: Invisalign clear aligners. Dr. Alan Sasson at Boston Smile Center is a 2014 Invisalign Preferred Provider serving Brookline, MA and the surrounding areas. Our team would love to show you how much of a difference Invisalign can make in your smile and in your life.
Choose Invisalign for a Confident Smile
If you are a candidate for Invisalign orthodontic treatment, we’ll begin the process of straightening your teeth by taking precise digital measurements of your dentition. This data will be sent directly to an Invisalign lab where your custom aligners will be created. When we receive your aligners, we’ll assess your bite to ensure optimal fit and comfort. The rest is easy! Simply wear your clear, comfortable aligners for the designated amount of time each day for a period of about two weeks for each set. As time passes, you’ll graduate to the next set of aligners in the series until treatment is complete. With Dr. Sasson’s guidance, you’ll begin to see your new smile emerge in no time!
Because we want you to begin enjoying the innumerable benefits of straighter teeth as soon as possible, Dr. Sasson also offers Propel Orthodontic technology. This revolutionary solution actually improves the restructuring process within your jaw as your teeth are shifted into their final positions. Capable of reducing orthodontic treatment duration by up to 60 percent, Propel has been successfully utilized with both traditional braces and the Invisalign system. We genuinely look forward to becoming your partners in your journey toward a healthier, more balanced smile with Invisalign clear aligners.

We have all heard that drinking soda and coffee can have long-lasting damaging effects on our teeth. But did you know that your nightcap can be just as bad?
Alcohol, just like coffee and soda, is acidic. Furthermore, alcohol temporarily reduces saliva production. Saliva plays an important role in dental health, removing bacteria and plaque from your teeth and gums. Removing plaque is important because more plaque equals more opportunity for bacterial acids to cause tooth decay.
So, what can you do about this unfortunate side effect of indulging in alcoholic beverages? As it turns out, you don’t need to cancel Happy Hours forever. Dilute the acidic content of your drink of choice by drinking water after each alcoholic beverage you consume. This technique will also help you remain hydrated. If you notice plaque build-up in spite of this precaution, contact Dr. Sasson and Boston Smile Center right away.
Are you already experiencing plaque build-up or tooth decay? Contact Boston Smile Center in Brookline, MA and let us help you take control of your dental health today. Dr. Sasson’s Brookline, MA office happily accepts patients from Cambridge, Boston, Newton, Chelsea, Somerville, and beyond!
