Our Philosophy on Anxiety

For some people, a visit to the dentist causes deep fear and anxiety, and may result in the postponement or avoidance of vital dental care.  Neglecting one’s oral health may lead to tooth loss, disease and overall health problems.

With great success, most cases of dental fear and anxiety can be overcome; and oral conscious sedation or intravenous sedation may be unnecessary or not in the patient’s best interest. Licensed and certified dental anesthesiologists do administer sedation safely; yet the fees charged for these services may often be too costly for most patients.

At Boston Smile Center, Dr. Sasson partners with his patients to alleviate their fears and anxiety without the need for sedation. Often, a mild medication is all it takes to lessen the intensity of anxiety and allow completion of the necessary dental care.

We invite you to make an appointment to meet with us to discuss your dental needs and determine together the most effective way to manage your fears and anxiety. I also encourage you to read our blog post for more about our philosophy.
