Whether it’s time for your teenage son or daughter to have braces or if you’ve been thinking about straightening your own teeth, consider the Damon System from Boston Smile Center and Laser Dentistry. This orthodontic system uses the same mechanics as traditional braces. However, there are slight differences that make the Damon System more advantageous. So if you’re thinking about having clear braces, Boston Smile Center and Laser Dentistry is the dental practice to see!

The Damon System

Damon clear braces and traditional braces are bonded to your teeth in the same way. However, the difference between the Damon System and traditional braces is that Damon braces are self-ligating, so they do not need regular tightening or adjustments. In fact, these are tieless braces that do not use elastics to secure the archwire to the brackets. Instead Damon braces use a slide mechanism to attach wires to brackets. In this way, Damon braces are more comfortable, less conspicuous and usually require a shorter treatment time than traditional metal braces.

In addition, Damon braces use a memory wire to connect slide brackets. With these, there is far less pressure than with the elastics used for traditional braces. The process requires less force and braces are set to tighten gradually over time in order to move your teeth.

Your Face and Braces

The Damon System doesn’t only address the alignment of your teeth, but also the overall appearance of your smile and your face. With the Damon System BraceLift™, your Boston dentist is able to create:

  • A smile that is wider and fuller
  • Facial symmetry that is balanced and more aesthetically pleasing
  • Smoother cheek contours
  • Teeth that are less crowded and straighter
  • A more youthful looking profile
  • A smile that does not have dark triangles in the corners

Unlike traditional braces that sometimes necessitate tooth extraction or palatal expanders before treatment in order to make space for your newly aligned teeth, the Damon System rarely require these. Tooth extraction and palatal expanders can both be uncomfortable, take more time, and might leave you with a narrower arch and a flatter looking profile. Damon braces, on the other hand, create a beautiful and natural 10-tooth smile that is broad and inviting.
